Fressnapf 's official: the Fressnapf Group will open its ninth European logistics hub overall in Nörvenich, near Aachen, in the summer of 2025. The company has thus officially confirmed press reports to this effect.
The new building for the Fressnapf warehouse, including offices, covers an area of nearly 72 000 m², with the majority of the warehouse space being used for ultra-modern automation. Construction of this e-commerce hub, the biggest in the company’s history to date, is scheduled to commence at the end of March. It is expected to be commissioned in late summer 2025.
“As the hub for our European e-commerce business, the new logistics centre will significantly improve the customer journey of our online customers. We will be able to increase the proportion of next-day deliveries considerably, thereby further augmenting customer satisfaction,” says Christian Buschmann, vice-president of Logistics Engineering & Real Estate at the Fressnapf Group, outlining the advantages of the new Fressnapf/Maxi-Zoo warehouse.
In the new location, Fressnapf will become a real “job motor” for the region. Up to 800 new jobs in logistics will be created successively in Nörvenich from the summer of 2025, up to 500 of which will be filled at the start of operations.
As in the case of the new logistics centre in Neuruppin, which opened in August 2023, Fressnapf aims to achieve sustainability certification to the DGNB Platinum Standard for the hub in Nörvenich. An extensive solar panel installation with an output of up to six MW will be installed on the roof of the new warehouse building and rainwater will be collected by way of roof greening. The halls will be heated exclusively using the latest heat pump technology. E-mobility in the region is also to be extended with charging stations for cars and e-bikes.
