The two market research companies Nielsen IQ (NIQ) and GfK are merging. They say the move will create the world’s leading consumer intelligence company.
A merger between NIQ and GfK will bring together two companies which have, independently of one another, already put considerable investment into omnichannel coverage, business intelligence tools and predictive analysis. It was reported in a press release that the combined company will unite complementary areas of competence by combining the insights of NIQ on fast moving consumer goods and the expertise of GfK in the field of technical consumer goods.
The new entity has sales of more than 4 bn dollars and over 30 000 clients in more than 100 countries. Its main locations in Chicago (USA), Nuremberg (Germany) and Geneva (Switzerland) are to be retained.
